Help with Teenage Cannabis Abuse

If you think your teenager is using Cannabis and you are seeking help and treatment we will be able to help you.

Cannabis abuse in teenagers can cause both physical and mental health problems and like other drugs can be addictive so it is important to seek professional treatment.

At Clinical Partners we specialise in treating addictions and working with children and adolescents.  Our team of Psychiatrists, Psychologists and Therapists  work in Partnership with the National Addiction Centre part of the South London and The Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust working with their leading consultants who specialise in this area.

We also work with a team of Educational Psychologists who will be able to support your child if this problem has created issues with their schooling.

If the situation has become critical we are also able to offer advice on inpatient treatment within the UK and abroad and give you help and support if this route is necessary.

The risks of Cannabis /Marijuana addiction and getting support for your teenager.

Despite the growing number of teens using it, cannabis /marijuana is not safe. You can never truly know what is in it. Many people dismiss the dangers of smoking cannabis/marijuana but the physical and emotional problems associated are well documented.

Teenagers who use cannabis are more likely to skip school, forget school work and recreational activities and distance themselves from family and friends and make poor decisions – the longer this goes on the longer the behaviour becomes entrenched.

The most common side effects of cannabis /marijuana use are:

  • Loss of coordination
  • Loss of balance
  • Memory problems
  • Cognitive delays
  • Difficulty learning new things
  • Problems concentrating
  • Poor judgment
  • False perceptions
  • Slow reaction times
  • Low motivation
  • Increased heart rate
  • Bronchitis
  • Anxiety
  • Panic attacks
  • Depression
  • Paranoid or persceutory thinking

If you are concerned that your teenager is abusing cannabis please call us on 0203 326 9160 and we can arrange for a private consultation with one of our team.
