Dr Charles Musters is a specialist in the mental health problems of pregnant and postnatal women. He works as a Consultant Psychiatrist in East London, where he leads the Perinatal Psychiatry team. He also trained in General Adult Psychiatry and sees male and female patients with a full range of mental health issues.
His approach is empathic and kind, helping women recover from depression, anxiety, and psychotic illness at a time in their lives which can be joyous, but also very challenging. He is experienced in helping women with pre-existing mental health problems prepare for pregnancy and birth, and is always happy to see women contemplating pregnancy in the future and looking for specialist guidance.
He is a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists Perinatal Executive Committee, helping to ensure that excellent mental healthcare is available to pregnant and postnatal women nationwide. He also works as an Expert Witness for the Courts, assessing clients and presenting evidence in Family Law and Clinical Negligence proceedings.
