Dr Taru-Maija Kokkonen

Dr Taru-Maija Kokkonen is an experienced Principal Clinical Psychologist currently working for Devon Partnership NHS Foundation Trust. She has a BSc in Psychology, Postgraduate Diploma in the Clinical Applications of Psychology, and a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology. She is a Member of the British Psychological Society and the Health and Care Professions Council.

Dr Kokkonen has over 6 years’ experience as a qualified Clinical Psychologist, working in the NHS.

Dr Kokkonen specialises in providing psychological assessment and therapy to adults, children, young people and families. She has worked in a range of services including Early Years Psychology, CAMHS, and Paediatric Psychology and is highly skilled in psychological interventions for children and young people suffering from difficulties such as anxiety, fears and phobias, depression and behavioural difficulties. She is an integrative psychologist, drawing on different therapeutic model to tailor her support to meet the needs of each patient.

Dr Kokkonen also has significant experience and a special interest in working with women who have experienced loss of pregnancy or have psychological difficulties during pregnancy or in the postnatal period.

Dr Kokkonen is described as a conscientious and thoughtful clinician, considerate of the social context of a person’s distress. Clinical Partners are delighted to present Dr Taru-Maija Kokkonen as part of our Exeter Clinic.
