Dr Melissa Smith

Dr Melissa Smith is a highly experienced Clinical Psychologist and Systemic Family Therapist, specialising in adults and children with intellectual disabilities and mental health issues. Melissa has worked across community and secure inpatient settings in the NHS since 2001.
Melissa has particular experience of working with anxiety, depression, self-harm, behavioural and relationship issues, as well as with the wider range of presentations associated with learning disabilities.
Dr Smith has a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology and additional specialist training to MSc level in Systemic Family Therapy, for which she received a distinction. Dr Smith is also an honorary teacher at Liverpool & Lancaster Universities and provides regular input for their Doctorate Clinical Psychology courses.
Dr Smith also has experience with Court of Protection cases and is Bond Solon trained. She is experienced in providing psychometric assessments including WAIS-IV and HCR-20.
Dr Smith gives help and support to families and individuals experiencing the challenges associated with living with learning and intellectual disabilities. She also provides specialised expert assessment and reporting for instructing parties requiring this input.
