Dr Uttom Chowdhury

Dr Uttom Chowdhury is an expert consultant child & adolescent psychiatrist who trained at Great Ormond Street and specialises in neurodevelopmental disorders. His book 'Tics and Tourette Syndrome' has been translated into five languages, and his research interests include anorexia nervosa, autistic spectrum disorders, and obsessive-compulsive disorder.

Dr Chowdhury is an honorary consultant psychiatrist to the Children & Young Persons Team, Medical Foundation for Victims of Torture and Non-Executive Director of CHUMS - a Bereavement Service for Children and Young People in Bedfordshire. He is a medical advisor to the Tourette Syndrome Association UK and is an examiner and board member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists. He is a visiting professor in the department of applied social studies at the University of Bedfordshire where he teaches neurosciences, neurodevelopment and child health on several master's level courses.

Dr Chowdhury is also ADI-R trained, which is the gold standard clinical diagnostic instrument for assessing autism in adults and children. Whilst Dr Chowdhury is primarily focused on working with children and young adults, he is excellent at carrying out ADI-R testing with all ages. He does not currently carry out follow-up treatment with adult patients.

Simply one of the nicest Doctors we have met – Dr Chowdhury made us and our daughter feel completely at ease and his advice has been life changing. I would recommend anyone should see Dr Chowdhury if their child needs help.
