There will be a feedback session after your child's Right to Choose autism assessment, and you'll then receive a written report.

Your child's feedback appointment

The feedback appointment will take place on Zoom and usually lasts up to 30 minutes.

In this appointment, your child’s clinician will talk you through the outcome of the assessment and explain what the team has understood about your child’s experiences. They will also share any recommendations and next steps. Whether or not a diagnosis is given, the focus is on helping you understand your child and what may be helpful moving forward.

This is also a space for you to ask questions. Some parents or carers prefer to ask questions during the session, while others find it helpful to take time to reflect first. There is no right or wrong approach, but you may wish to think in advance about anything you would like to ask.

You might find it helpful to consider questions such as:

  • Can you explain how you reached this outcome?

  • Did the assessment highlight any particular strengths or differences for my child?

  • Are there any adjustments or support options we could consider at home, at school or in daily life?

  • Are there any resources you would recommend while we are waiting for the report?

Your child’s report

Once the assessment is complete, we’ll email you to let you know when your child’s report is ready to view in the portal. The report explains the outcome of the assessment, outlines what the clinical team has understood about your child’s experiences, and includes clear recommendations and next steps for support.

Many schools and professionals find the report helpful in understanding how best to support your child, so you may wish to share a copy with them. We will also share the report with your child’s GP.
