Dr Shivani Patel

I am a published Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist working with children and adolescents, offering virtual appointments.

I have over 12 years of clinical experience, including foundation, core and higher psychiatric training, followed by work as a Consultant Psychiatrist. I currently work as a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist in Community Child and Adolescents Mental Health Services at East London NHS Foundation Trust.

I take a compassionate, collaborative and personalised approach to supporting children and their families. I prioritise building trust and creating a safe, welcoming space from the first session. I understand that starting psychiatric support can feel overwhelming, so I work at a pace that feels right for each child and family.

By getting to know each child’s personality, strengths and needs, I develop tailored treatment plans. These may include therapy, practical strategies, medication, or a combination of approaches, with the aim of achieving the best possible outcomes.

I offer compassionate, personalised care for children with a broad range of neurodevelopmental and emotional difficulties. I am trained in the administration of ADOS-2 and ADI-R assessments.

I have contributed to published research and academic work in digital mental health, child and adolescent psychiatry, healthy ageing and neuroimmunology.

My previous NHS training included roles as a Specialist Registrar and Core Trainee at South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust.
