Dr Mahesh Kulkarni

Dr Mahesh Kulkarni is a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist with extensive experience supporting young people with a wide range of complex mental health needs. He currently works for the East London NHS Foundation Trust and has served as Clinical Team Lead in the Emotional and Behaviour Disorders Team at Luton CAMHS for the past four years.

Dr Kulkarni holds a medical degree (MBBS) and has completed specialist training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. He is approved under Section 12(2) of the Mental Health Act, recognising his expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of mental disorders. He also has considerable forensic experience and is skilled in working with young people who may struggle to engage with services.

He has particular expertise in ADHD, behavioural difficulties, depression, OCD, and anxiety disorders, and draws from a range of therapeutic approaches including cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), systemic therapy, psychodynamic principles and group work.

Known for his calm, thoughtful, and collaborative approach, Dr Kulkarni works closely with young people and their families to understand their challenges and create effective, compassionate treatment plans. His colleagues describe him as kind, knowledgeable, and deeply committed to improving outcomes for children and adolescents.
