Dr Andrea Pickering

Dr Andrea Pickering is a Consultant Clinical Psychologist who specialises in paediatric clinical neuropsychology, supporting children and young people with complex developmental, neurological, and mental health needs.

She has a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology and a Postgraduate Diploma in Paediatric Clinical Neuropsychology. Dr Pickering is an Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society and a Senior Associate of the Royal Society of Medicine. She is also a researcher in clinical neuropsychology at Canterbury Christ Church University.

Dr Pickering works with children who have experienced traumatic or acquired brain injuries, complex medical conditions, autism, and learning difficulties. She provides specialist neuropsychological assessments and a wide range of therapeutic interventions, including CBT, EMDR, and Positive Behaviour Support. She is highly skilled in autism assessment and diagnosis, including use of tools such as the ADOS.

Her approach is warm and collaborative, helping families understand their child’s needs and supporting them with practical, personalised strategies. She also draws on systemic therapy and solution-focused approaches to help build coping skills and resilience.
