The key to recovery is recognising not just the problem but understanding the motivation and personal resources of the sufferer. If they are an alcoholic, what kind are they? Is it an addiction or does it mask an underlying problem? How much support do you need to succeed?
By calling our counselling team on 0203 326 9160 We will recommend one of our psychotherapy team who specialise in counselling for alcohol abuse.
Alcohol treatment starts with an initial meeting, in which you will chat with one of our counsellors. If you decide that you are comfortable with your counsellor and that you can speak with them easily, you will start to work with them on your plan for recovery.
Calls to us are completely confidential.
Our Clinical Partners addiction team is able to help sufferers, their friends and their families, answer these difficult questions. The team includes Psychiatrists, Psychologists and Psychotherapists trained in the treatment of alcoholism; we are able to offer a full assessment and diagnosis of all cases. We can then offer expert, independent advice on effective treatment programmes. These can range from weekly therapy sessions to day-care, supported living and residential treatment options.
We are also highly experienced in organising interventions, for where you feel the sufferer is unable or unwilling to seek help themselves. These are extremely effective at compelling the unwilling alcoholic to enter treatment.
The length of any treatment depends entirely on the nature of the problem and the motivation of the sufferer. Psychotherapy tends to be the mainstay of alcoholism treatment, and this can involve weekly sessions from 6 to 12 weeks to months and years, depending on the individual.
Day-care can involve a couple of days a week at a treatment centre, while supported living offers a stable environment from which you can go out to work and maintain your normal life.
Residential treatment can also be hugely beneficial but we would always recommend a full assessment to establish whether this is the most effective treatment plan for the individual and their family.
