Dr Anthony Crabb is a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist with 25 years’ medical experience since he graduated from The University of Auckland’s Medical School. Dr Crabb specialised in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at South West London and St George’s Mental Health Trust and has since gained 12 years’ experience at consultant level.
For the last 5 years, Dr Crabb has worked in North Devon CAMHS. During his time there, his clinical duties have included leading the eating disorders service, as well as seeing young people and their families across the range of CAMHS presentations, including ADHD, ASD, self harm, anxiety, depression and psychosis. He was an Associate Clinical Director for the Devon CAMHS service.
Prior to working in North Devon, Dr Crabb spent 7 years working at Southampton Children’s Hospital as a Paediatric Liaison Psychiatrist. He worked across the boundaries of physical and mental health and was Chair of the Royal College of Psychiatrists Paediatric Liaison Network from 2013-2016. Dr Crabb has also earned clinical excellence awards for his contributions to the NHS, including service and quality improvement projects, medical education and training.
As part of his role at Southampton Children’s Hospital Dr Crabb was the lead for the Autism Assessment Service and is trained in the ADI-R.
Dr Crabb is an excellent clinician and highly regarded by his colleagues. He is highly skilled in managing common and complex Child Psychopathology, has a wide knowledge of psychopharmacology, and makes sound judgements under pressure. He treats young people and their families with respect, and communicates often complex diagnoses in a clear and simple way.
