With over 30 years of experience with CAMHS outpatients, Annette Willett has developed a range of therapeutic skills and is a very experienced Occupational Therapist registered with the HCPC. She has wide ranging general and specialist experience in mental health of adults and more significantly, children. She retired in March 2020 from working as a Specialist Occupational Therapist for the Leicestershire Partnership NHS trust working within the CAMHS outpatient team after over 30 years in that team. Annette is now an independent Specialist Occupational Therapist.
Annette has extensive experience in identifying the needs of children and families referred to CAMHS, the provision of a range of highly specialised clinical interventions with complex cases e.g. individual therapy with Psychodynamic underpinnings, Play Therapy (non-directive Axline theory), group work skills (specialist assessment group for complex presentations and also anxiety conditions), delivery of psychoeducation to families, anxiety work, protective behaviours work, family work and specialist assessments (ADOS, sensory profiling, theory of mind assessments).
She has offered clinical teaching to OT graduate courses in Northampton and Derby, and to the Clinical Psychology Doctorate training and to Medical trainees at the University of Leicester.
Annette has a wide range of clinical experience and a very approachable manner. She demonstrates a very caring and empathetic attitude towards clients and their families and is a well-respected colleague, with others seeking her experience and skills.
