Veronica Kamerling is a highly experienced expert in Eating disorders. Her work in the NHS and private sector centres around supporting families who are caring for a friend or family member with a mental illness.
Veronica looked after her two daughters who both had an eating disorder and who are now in good recovery. One daughter had anorexia and the other one had bulimia. This experience has left her well placed to understand the stresses and emotional strains of those families in similar situations.
Veronica feels passionately that families are a vital link between those they care for and the healthcare team and should be supported in their role. She is very aware of how feelings of isolation, despair and guilt can be overwhelming, and can offer a listening ear and empathic approach. Veronica has excellent knowledge of the health services, and enormous experience working directly with staff, service users, carers and families and is able to offer training and guidance for anyone looking after someone with an eating disorder.
In 2008 Veronica was awarded an Eating Disorders National Award in recognition of her work and contribution to the world of eating disorders. She is extremely warm, good humoured, and always sensitive to the needs of others and we are delighted to have her as part of the Clinical Partners team.
